The two most popular email marketing autoresponder software services available are GetResponse and Aweber. They held the market share many years ago and even though there have been a few ‘new kids on the block’ since then, they still remain the most popular choices. Both of them manage and help you market to your contact lists. Both allow you to manage your contact lists, use templates to design your emails, set automated emails to go out at predetermined times (set and forget), and so forth. For those who wish to manage their contacts efficiently and effectively, both these products get the job done. However, if you are torn between deciding which tool is best – then perhaps this Aweber vs. GetResponse review will help you make an informed decision. The GetResponse Autoresponder software is better designed to manage people with a lot of subscribers and is cheaper than Aweber. I think you will agree that based on the above, GetResponse wins on pricing.

Having tried both systems I would say that the Aweber templates are better than the GetResponse templates. However, both are perfectly fine for your template needs. Both have responsive templates (templates that respond to various screen sizes) so if you’re satisfied with a decent looking template then you don’t have to overanalyze this option. For me Aweber’s templates look somewhat more professional compared to that of GetResponse. If you have experience in editing templates then both systems are equally fine. If not then Aweber will give you the better looking templates. That said, the templates for both are pretty good. If we had to call for a winner for templates, Aweber wins this round.

Importing data
This is where GetResponse clearly wins by a long shot. If you’d like to import your contact list from a .txt file or a spreadsheet then GetResponse is your choice. Unfortunately, Aweber forces you to make every single subscriber re-confirm their subscription if you import your data to them. This could lead to many of your subscribers not choosing to opt in a second time and ultimately result in a loss of income. This is a big deal. GetResponse does not require re-confirmation from your subscribers when importing a list so it wins this division hands down.

Testing your emails
Again, GetResponse wins when you are testing different emails. It allows you 5 different e-newsletter variations for your split-testing, while Aweber offers 4. Other than that both systems are fine for testing your designs. There is a good chance that even running 4 split tests will be an overkill for you, so this is probably not going to make for a swing vote.

Free trials
If you feel like you don’t want to take the risk of possibly spending money on the wrong autoresponder then you are in luck. Both systems offer a free trial. This allows you to see which one is better fit for you. Both offer a free one month trial. GetResponse gets the win because it doesn’t require your credit card information in order for you to test their service while Aweber does.

Technical support
There is always the chance that you will require technical support when using the software, so it’s important to get good support while you are using the software. GetResponse wins when it comes to live chat as it offers 24/7 support on weekdays. On weekends it’s 9-5. Aweber offers 8 AM to 8 PM on Mondays to Fridays and 9 AM to 5 PM on weekends. GetResponse’s phone hours are 9 AM to 5 PM , Monday to Friday while it’s 8 AM to 8 PM for Aweber. Aweber offers toll free calls so it wins here. It’s unclear what GetResponse charges.  (All of this is in ET time.) It all depends on when you want to call. The winner would differ depending on the circumstances. If you need support at an odd hour or you are from a different time zone, then GetResponse will win, but if you are in the US and end up spending a long time on the phone with support, Aweber will win. Since this will be unique to each person, we cannot determine an overall winner, so we will declare this a draw.
